Sorelle Fontana (literally “Fontana Sisters”) was an Italian fashion house, specializing in high-fashion couture. The turning point For Fontana was in 1949, when the bride to be, actress Linda Christian, bought a Fontana dress for her wedding to actor Tyrone Power. From 1950 they became the go-to for the international jet set, dressing celebrities such as Elizabeth Taylor and Audrey Hepburn.
This beautiful dress is made from red crepe wool with black velvet trims, highlighting the beautiful diamond-shaped neckline.
It is expertly cut to fit the waist and the two, trimmed flap pockets sit on the hips, further emphasising a flattering silhouette.
There is a black velvet seam with 10 black velvet buttons down the front of the dress, which are now only decorative as the dress has been modernised with a zip.
The sleeves are full length and finished with a black velvet hem.
There internal shoulder pads, sewn into the red lining.

Good condition (7.5/10). This item has been altered and modernised, with an added front zip. There are two small pulls in the fabric to the left of the second button. There are also small patches where the wool is beginning to wear, but there are no holes.
