“Isabel Canovas was born in 1945, she began work at an early age as accessories designer at Hermés and later to Louis Vuitton. After a few years, she joined Christian Dior as head designer for a span of almost 10 years. At the age of 37, she opened her boutique in Paris, in 1985 in NY and in 1988 in Madrid. One of her apprentices was Dominique Aurientis, a famous couture jewellery designer in her own right. Canovas’ clientele knew that she never discounted or loaned pieces to anyone, no matter who the celebrity was. This marketing strategy helped her customers know that the accessories would NEVER devalue with time. Her editions for each season were in small amount, so are very rare.”
